The Retreat from Moscow

Buck

I have been working for over a month to complete a batch of Retreat from Moscow figures.  These were a Christmas present two Christmases ago.  They took a very long time to paint, because each one was different, so I couldn’t really paint them by assembly line.  I think they came out nicely.  What do you think?

We should see these in a Combat Patrol™ Napoleonic game soon…

  1. Very nice. I see how these took a while, so much individuality and differences among the models. Even the bases look cool – and I would love to see le brave des braves in a retreat from Moscow skirmish! Well executed Buck, thanks for sharing!

  2. I agree with Mark; these are great! And the bases you did are beautiful! I don’t know if it was accidental, or in purpose, but I love how some of the snow is crusted around the bottoms of their coats.

  3. Thanks, guys. The snow on the coats was intentional. It was the last step. I have found that when I spray that snow flocking with matte varnish that it turns clear, so that was applied after the figures were sprayed and the bases completed.

  4. Don’t give Greg any more ideas!
Actually, these would be great in your Retreat from Moscow zombie game. I am very short of Russians to pursue them. That will be another project. I want to finish up some other things in my unpainted lead collection first.
